Forsaken Generation
“The second is this, ‘YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”
Mark12:31
Everybody deserves a fair chance in life but of course we all know that’s not how the world works. Thankfully, there are organizations and movements out there that try to level the playing field for those who do not have the right love and support from those at home or family. Sean Wrench is the founder and executive director of Forsaken Generation. In 3 years the impact that Forsaken Generation has made throughout the U.S. has been profound. They believe that awareness is the first step in engaging people to do something about homelessness, hunger and child sex trafficking. Big issues that we can overcome if we work together.
In America, 13 homeless children a day die and 1 in 3 children are forced into prostitution after only 48 hours on the street. Up to 2.8 million children are homeless in the U.S. 300,0o0 children are sold for sex every single year. This is a mind blowing statistic that can not go on. I can tell you from my own experience what can drive some children into the streets because when home is not a safe place to be you are willing to fend for yourself and then anything can happen. These are not kids who just don’t like the rules at home, these are kids who have been given no other choice. Maybe parents who have been out of work for so long they have lost their homes or parents who can not care for them any longer or like I mentioned maybe an unbearable home life.
The U.S. is sadly ill equipped to take care of these children and in particular, child sex traffick victims. There is an extreme shortage of accommodations and resources to enable the much needed counseling and therapy for these young victims.
Their current campaign GIVE TO FREEDOM will help existing shelters that are housing child trafficking victims as well as work to open new shelters. The following is a list of shelters in the U.S. that work with child trafficking victims that we are working to support.
Wellspring Living – Atlanta, GA
Rahab’s Hideaway – Columbus, OH
Unlikely Heroes – San Francisco, CA
For The Sake of One – Plano, TX
As always, there are many ways to show support. You can shop from their online store, you can donate time, money, items a shelter may need, etc. The important thing is to do something, anything to help.
