Anti-Trafficking Group in San Diego
I am very excited to be speaking on working with survivors in India this Thursday, May 2nd in Vista, California. This is a great opportunity to share with other anti trafficking advocates in the San Diego area what is going on India. Lusso Bags not only works with survivors by purchasing Fair Trade bags made by the survivors but we also contribute to a prevention program in India as well. The prevention program is run by an organization called Bibles To Nations (BTN). BTN has a specific program that certifies young women in cosmetology and tailoring work. At the end of the program each young woman receives a sewing machine and her certification. This allows the girls to work for a living and help support their families. Otherwise, these young girls are prone to kidnapping, coercion to work in other cities or to work as a sex worker. With their certification they are empowered to take care of themselves, their families and help other young women.
